Hi folks,
I just did some work on my 2000 Aero and I'd thought I'd pass along a couple of 'findings' for everyone. Was eating rear tires (rather bad cupping on the inside of both rears). 158k miles and the rear suspension could not attain specs for alignment. Ride height was off by 1.5"(!). New springs and shocks were ordered. The rear springs were so shot you didn't need a spring compressor to remove the upper nut (just heat and torque - fair amount of both). New springs in and height back to spec. Old to new comparison showed about a 1/2" difference in free height between them and obviously no 'spring' left in them there old springs. Alignment on Monday so more precise numbers if interested. Rear shocks were original and both OK but replaced based on mileage.
Fronts got new shocks and springs. No real difference with the springs but one shock that looked good, felt good but was completely gone once removed from the spring. Did have an odd 'wander' over bumps but I was thinking rear suspension. All bushes looked fine.
Different car at this point to say the least. Haven't had a chance to drive it much: can't get the keys away from my wife...
