Looking at Tire Rack's testing, the better "all season tires" are achieving the same dry road performance as the typical "summer tires", but they tend to fall short in wet road performance. That said, they also tend to have much longer tread wear ratings. My recommendation is the Goodyear Eagle GT, on account of its superior wet road performance in its test group. They are available in the OE 215-55-16 VR size.
Based on a private discussion with Consumer Reports' head of tire testing, you really can't compare tread wear ratings from one company to a different company, but tread wear ratings within a given company are pretty consistent. That means Michelin, BF Goodrich, and Uniroyal are comparable; Goodyear and Dunlop; Continental and General; and Bridgestone and Firestone.
