3 car seats is easy! you just need the right car seats! we have had 3 car seats across the back of our c900s... the back seat of a 9-5 is *huge*.

Google "Sunshine Kids Radian". We had a Britax Marathon that we sold to neighbours. It was fine but didn't fit well in the Saabs (too wide, flat bottom). Everyone buys Marathons because they rate well for safety + have a high weight limit. Radian safety is just as good + has an equally high weight limit (and price), but is narrower (due to the steel frame) + can easily fit 3 across a backseat (impossible with Marathon in most cars). The other advantage of the radian is it accepts taller children. Our 5 year old is still in the Radian (with room to grow + he's tall for his age), and long ago outgrew the Marathon... really the limit on the radian is age-wise how long they will put up with the 5 point harness...

In our (new to us) 2004 9-5, we currently have 2 SK Radians ff with room for a non-obese adult in the middle seat (a little tight, but ok). In the c900s we've had: [sk radian ff/bucket/comfortable adult], [sk radian ff, sk radian rf/comfortable adult], in both cases the "comfortable adult" has been replaced by boosters: Graco, Compass, and Britax Parkway, and could have easily fit another SK radian. 9-5 rear seat is cavernous in comparison to c900, though with only 2 SK seats in there, there is more gap between the seat + the door than in the c900 (upside: more margin for safety, downside: 3 seats are clustered but still ok). There is still way more room between the seats than in the c900, and a 3rd sk or booster would be an easy fit in the middle.

In terms of model year, etc... 2004+ is preferable (imho) as many reliability issues were improved (some minor, some bigger)... however the earlier cars are less decontented + nicer in some ways. I don't love the 2006+ cars stylistically, but they all get the aero powerplant, which is good. Search the bb for more info re what to look for. This is a common topic! oh, and since you care about carseats, 2002+ got latch...

The 9-5 is very safe + a fantastic touring car. Imho, perfect for families that don't buy into the minivan ideology...

James...
