The backyard mechanic that installed a new brake booster on the cheap forgot to remove the sleeve/dust shield from the old one and install on new one prior to installation. The end result is that while my brakes work great I now have an unsealed hole in the firewall where the rubber boot sealed to the shaft. At highway speeds hot air out of engine compartment spews into the cabin, heating up everything in the divers foot well.

Please don't judge or lecture. I know, it is what it is. Money was tight and after so many repairs I wanted to keep the car on the road for cheap. Breaks are fine, provide great feedback and bled all four corners.

Is there anything I can fashion to plug the hole? I don't think it needs to be the elaborate sleeve design it was as long as it shrinks the opening significantly without clinging to the rod. Do they sell generic boots? I was thinking about maybe splitting one lengthwise, wrapping around rod and opening and then taping or gluing.

Heat, just a lot of heat blasting me in the legs non stop.... as soon as the engine heats up... the opening is behind the plastic cover that contains the diagnostics port so the air starts heating up all the panels.... it's bad.
