Are you talking leaving out the entire rubber bellows w. foam insert? I didn't have to think about this because a new one came on my ATE booster, but I can see why not having it makes a problem. I wonder if a quick fix could be made by splitting your old boot down the middle and substituting a somewhat longer piece of foam than the small original, but also spit along its length. The foam could be inserted with its slit "up" and the boot with its slit "down", and some silicone sealant could bond the two together to hold in place and keep out water and dirt - to a degree. I'd be concerned that any fix like this will leak and create new problems - but I understand not wanting to do the whole job over again.
