My concerns would have nothing to do with the car itself, but rather Saab's current situation:
1. If Saab does not get out of the current mess, what will be the situation with the warranty? And parts for that matter - there is a LOT of stuff for recent Saabs on major back-order at the moment. While the NG9-5 shares a LOT with other GM cars, there is a fair bit that is specific to it. Especially in the electronics.
2. Again, if Saab does take the dirt nap, what about resale value?
I can tell you that my closest experience to this was when Peugeot pulled out of the US in '92, I came THIS close to buying a 405 MI16 brand-new for $9500. That was a $28K car, and Peugeot still existed to supply parts and warranty, they just were not going to sell cars in the US anymore. But I was in the same boat as you, fresh out of college, first job, and decided not to do it.
BTW, saw both your car and you at SCD, but did not get a chance to say HI, it was a quick visit for me. But now I know who you are!
