Engine break-in and octane

I realize that some of you look for things to throw against the screen whenever you see a post for running low octane in an Aero, but bear with me.
With my one-week old Aero SW, I'm following SAAB's recommendation of keeping rev's below 5,000 for first 1,200 miles. Actually, I'm close to following Coolknight's recommeded starting at 3,000 rpms, increasing by 500 every 500 miles, but that's a little too conservative for me, as I've already taken to 4,000 rpm a couple of times. I probably won't mash the pedal until over 1,500 miles.
Since the turbo should run fine with lower octane at lower boost levels, and since I'm not pushing the engine, it seems like a higher octane would have no benefits for me, now.
Any reason why I should run higher than 87 octane during early engine break-in?
