these are great highway cars... feel is different than a c900, but they are great... I have 2 c900's and no trouble getting parts (but I haven't needed an AMM + I've got access to a junk yard full of c900s)... ditto for the 9-5...

if you're an old time saab guy, you probably want the 2.3L turbo 4. 6 is tighter to work on + a different beast - some parts for it are expensive + harder to get.... no sludge concerns with it though... harder to find good wagons than sedans unfortunately... both transmissions are very robust relative to the c900...

in addition to Stephen's comments, I'd say check for suspension issues - look at the inside edges of tires for evidence of excessive wear there or cupping... also look for a sagging rear end... not hard to fix, but factor that into the price... these cars don't seem to handle heavy loads as well as I was used to with the c900... I was brutal on those poor cars + they stood up to the abuse pretty darn well...

check for rust in front of the rear fenders + along sills. not as much of a problem as on the c900s though... partly because 9-5's are all brand new (in c900 terms anyway)...

check for sludge if you can't move up to the 2004+ vintage. An Aero is preferred to a linear in 2003 and before because it has the more robust turbo (aside from being faster in general)...

good luck!

James...
