My '03 Aero wagon has never left me stranded...but the smartest thing I ever did was put a full size spare in the back of the car, after a blow out and a bubbled tire after hitting a pothole. One of my alloys was already curb damaged, so I bought a new rim, got the scraped rim refurbished for $100, bought four new tires, and put one of the undamaged tires from the other side of the car on it as a back up. Luckily it was a work trip, so much of this was covered.
It's come in handy twice now after this in the past few years...the 50mph limit on the highway becomes a real hazard around LA, when everyone is doing 70+ at night.
It fits perfectly in the spare tire storage area...worth every penny.
