Many high performance tires feature directional tread patterns that IME don't wear well on 9-5s. Those that feature mainly longitudinal grooves and solid ribs seem to do better - tires like Conti Sport Contact 2 or 3 - not that I'm suggesting those particular tires, just that they are the most extreme example- don't seem to get noisy as they wear.
Most "all season high performance" tires perform as well as summer high performance on dry pavement, nearly as well on wet, and have much better wear ratings. They are bad on snow, versus deadly on snow for summer all seasons.
My personal favorite of the type is the Dunlop Signature Sport, which features aramid cap ply, good traction good wear rating.
