Personally, I'd just keep the saab + use an indy... you will not be able to replace it for that kind of money... I've driven the subarus, and they just don't drive as nicely (and drink too much gas)... Audis are cars to lease, not own unless you can DIY them or have a fantastic independent audi specialist who undervalues his time (can be very expensive once they get near 100k)... Volvo would probably be the closest choice (XC70), but it will not be the same... regardless, a good indy will save you a fortune vs a dealership + requires little or no more car knowledge... some even have loaners... 2006 is virtually brand new, so why not keep it a while?
Question. Klingon wheels + winter tires... how do you like that setup? no bent rims or anything? I've got a set of Klingons that I could put winter rubber on, or (ideally) trade them for 16" rims... but I have to find someone who wants to trade! This year, as an interim measure, I'm running a used (1 year old) set of 16" Primacy Alpins on steel wheels and will resell for next year + upgrade... the tires handle nicely in dry + wet, but nowhere near the grip on ice, slush, and hardpack snow as hakkas (even unstudded hakkas)... ABS/TCS comes on surprisingly often at stops etc*, even coming in slowly... haven't really had to drive them in deep snow yet, but new from the factory they have way less tread depth than hakkas, so I'm not optimistic...
* as an aside, I've noticed the 9-5 ABS is way more harsh + less progressive than in our 1993 c900. has anyone else noticed this? is this due to GM parts bin ABS?!? it comes on all shakey + loud immediately in the 9-5... the 1993 starts with a light modulation + progresses (if you need to press harder/stop faster while slipping) to something comparably intense as the 9-5, but smoother - like more "brakes per second"... was surprised by the difference... and yet I like the non-ABS in the 1989 better, especially in winter ;-)...
