What I believe they are saying is that your car uses the "short belt" for driving the engine accessories. The short belt eliminates the need for the center idler pulley which is tough to remove & replace, but on some vehicles results in extra vibration in the power steering pump.
Your car still has the upper idler pulley and the tensioner pulley associated with the serpentine belt.
My opinion is that the upper idler pulley should be replaced every 60K miles and that the tensioner with pulley should be replaced every 120K miles. The 60K replacement of the upper idler may even be part of Saab's Major Interval Service.
Luckily replacement of the upper idler is the easiest and least expensive of the pulleys.
