if I understand you correctly, you are saying, the 1 key you have is cut to operate the ignition, but not the doors? ie the doors have a different cylinder? and you do not have a key for that? I agree that could be a significant problem + you should check with the PO... though, it is easy to never use the key to open the doors... I don't think I have actually ever done that on mine! That is one thing I prefer about the c900 style central locking...
Since you have a 2001, it uses the skinny key shaft, so Ilco manufacturers a blank (both chipped, and non-chipped are available). Ie any locksmith could duplicate the key for the door. However, getting one made up from the VIN might require it come from SAAB. I would assume the cylinders in the doors are the original ones tied to the VIN + the ignition one was replaced.
