EAC? AIC? Which for Audio installation help? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 24 Jun 2012 11:54:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Still looking for answers to potential problems before I tackle installation of my new HD Radio adapter to my 9-5 Aero. Very little information available on-line (shockingly little actually) regarding the JVC #KT-HDP1 adapter I received.
Two comments I have found, on-line and in the nearly non-existent installation manual.
- The adapter is said to require a steady 12v hot to power the station memory module. On most cars this can be provided from the power lead to the cigarette lighter but not on our Saabs. I may need to find and tap into a 12v hot lead near the head unit.
- Antenna booster amplifier. On some cars this is deactivated whenever a non-radio program source is selected. Since the HD adapter feeds into the head unit via the MP3 port and piggy-backs off the car antenna this amplifier must remain powered on whenever the head unit is on for the HD adapter to work correctly.
What is the best source for these answers? I already have a current WIS but the answers are well buried if contained within it. Would the AIC (accessories installation) disk help? Is there another ready source?
