Wow, that's a lot of work cutting it open.
I had no clue it was that much mother board in there.
What I have seen taking the cover of many of them is that the blue thingy is often cracked and that the black cover have a crack right over the square black thingy between cyl #3-4.
For all you longtime viewers/posters, how many of you have heard about V6 IDM failures lately? Especially after the initial batch of the TK4.4 version were out of the picture which did in fact die in similar fashions but since it was a V6, the engine sometimes stayed running on the other cylinder bank.
After introduction of the TK4.6 version, I can't really recall having any of them fail or setting of any combustion codes or Check Engine lights.
So the only thing needed is for the company to build the black ones as good as the silver ones. Could that be so hard to do?
Or could it be that the V6 IDM runs cooler since it is lifted up a little bit out of the spark plug well having more air circulating around it compared to the red and black being showed down as deep as it possible can go.
Also, the V6 engine runs a fewq degree colder in cooling system compared to the 4cyl so that might be a reason too why it last longer.
