I never go past 5k I usually do mine a little over 3k. 5 quarts of Mobil 1 10-40 and a filter are less than 30 at Wal Mart. I have 170k+ on my 2001 Aero and 140k on my wife's 2003.
Oil changes are cheap insurance for long engine life. 10K in my opinion is a VERY long time and false economy, Saab backed away from them and had to have a special engine warranty.
Your turbo can go from 5000 rpm to 150,000 rpm in a few seconds. I don't want dirty oil trying to keep up with that and lubricate bearings in the turbo.
No matter how good your oil, carbon is constantly getting into it by sneaking by the low friction rings in the 95 motor. Plus the exhaust system and cat is very close to the oil pan, keeping the oil hotter than normal.
I want clean oil and a healthy additive package doing its job in MY engine.
