OK---carbon----additive package Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Thu, 2 Aug 2012 11:31:57 In Reply to: Why not change it every $1k then?, dmz789qqq, Thu, 2 Aug 2012 09:09:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Actually 1000 miles is better!!!
I feel 5000 miles is more than enough for carbon, water, gasoline, etc.. to contaminate oil. And then the additive package is constantly breaking down as well.
The longer you go the more crap is in your oil, and the more the oil breaks down. The filter only takes out a portion of the crud.
I know what the bearing shells and crank look like in a 3000 to 5000 mile engine with 150,000 or more. I know how delicate turbos are.
I know I am not going to win this argument with you, but it is your car and so do what you want.
I know what I will do for oil change intervals.....VERY cheap insurance.
