At this point, your argument is all based on "feel" & "comfort."
Not that there's anything wrong with that. We each need to feel comfortable with our maintenance decisions.
My suggestion would be to get Used Oil Analysis (UOA) done for at least several Oil Change Intervals (OCI) in order to understand what's actually going on inside YOUR engine. You may find out that 3k mi OCI is the right number for your driving style. Or you may find out that 10k mi OCI leaves the oil with plenty of life & additives left.
But the difference will be, then you'll actually KNOW what's going on.
Oh, & you ARE using a larger oil filter, right? That'll help keep carbon & other contaminants that are in suspension at a minimum.
The argument that too frequent oil changes are "cheap insurance" is a nice sentiment, but you may be needlessly throwing away your own time & money, & creating more waste & pollution for all of us.
