I'm from that part of the Commonwealth north of the yankees so we understand the British spellings even if we don't use them... snow is falling as I type this... WR is probably a perfect tire for the "continental" winter conditions... many people do use them around here also, where they are trying to avoid buying 2 full sets of tires, and comments I've heard have been overwhelmingly positive. Supposedly they hold up well even in warmer temperatures on bare roads, something most winter tires don't like.
I'm running Michelin Pilot Super Sports in summer. They are fantastic, but not surprisingly, wear quickly. I read a lot of positive reviews of those goodyears. How have they held up for mileage? I'm not looking for really long lasting, but maybe a touch more than I'll get out of the PSS... Ultimately I had been hoping to try Nokian V but could not get them... If you are going to go with 235's next time, then 215's for winter make a lot of sense. iirc you can even get the car set up with a tech2 to go with that tire size (ie to remove the speedo error)...
I've included a link to the miata tire size calculator below, which obviously you don't need but might be handy to someone...
