Follow the link to a picture of a 4 cylinder oil pan. This is whats referred to as sludging. Pv6 update is an update that will better circulate the oil. The early 9-5 motors had a bad case of sludging which cut oil pressure and destroyed the motor. I do believe it was a recall item so its more than likely it has been done to the motor. However if it has not the picture in the link provided can very well be the oil pan in the car your thinking of buying.
The catalytic converter for the car is essentially right under the oil pan. Cooking the oil if you will. Oil changes on the motor is a must or the sludging can happen. I change my oil every 3000 miles some change it later than that but these motors are high risk for whats in the pic. if the oil isn't changed regularly, or religiously (follow link)
As for Goldberger`s comment on the clutch, he`s stating its toasted in a nice sugar coated way. I`m sure there's a link around here on what to look for on the motor to see if the pv6 update is done, I`ll search for a photo and post it later.
