As Justin points out, the 06 and up CA/US spec car use a fuel pump assembly that mimics the 9-3 sport sedan in looks and assembly. Exhaust system and fuel tank has to be removed to get to the pump.
Since the 9-3 fuel sending unit is plagued with issues I wouldn't be too surprised if the 06 and up 9-5 have the same problems.
The problem though is that even though Saab and GM came out with a repair solution for the 9-3, they have not come out with one for the 9-5.
Until someone have pulled a 9-5 pump out and compared the innards, we won't know for sure how it looks and even then, it is no guarantee that a 9-3 sending unit would work because due to the shape of the tank and how fuel level goes down, the resistance in sending unit might be calibrated to the shape of the tank and if installed in a 9-5 would throw off the fuel gauge reading.
Also with all the work involved dropping the tank and the mileage of the car and remaining years of the fuel pump, it might not be smart to just replace the sending unit but do the whole pump instead (when and if they can be found).
