04 aero as well, same tires on 17" factory wheels. I hate the harshness around town. It feels like the tires are solid rubber. I run 35 PSI in them, it helps a bit. 40 PSI or over and it will beat you to death. I could run over a penny and tell you the year it was minted.
It does not look like there is any clearance in the wheel wells for making the change to 50 or 55 series tires on 17" rims. A few years back I tried a little experiment with my 04 9-5 Aero where I installed the 16" wheels and 205-50-16's off my 2000 9-3 SE, and there was a big improvement in the ride, almost all harshness was absent. But this is counter to the current trend of bigger and bigger rims on cars and lower profile tires. And the 16" wheels look a bit downscale I guess, but I could have lived with it. I dont think the shocks matter that much, most of the aftermarket shocks (Koni, Bilsteins) are even stiffer.
