. . . I've also heard that the interior is cheap looking from the various reviews. Supposedly GM is going to upgrade it over the next couple of model years. I've heard of a "CTSi" or "CTS-R" package that is a "BMW M5" beater, but in classic GM thinking, they're going for too much too soon. They should first try to have a decent base engine, instead of the current lethargic offering, and then try to go for the gold medal.
In any case, I'm definitely staying put with my 2001 Aero for the time being! It's been a wonderful car. One thing I've noticed is that unless you go to a much larger car (a foot or so longer), you can't match the Aero in terms of rear seat room and trunk space. Further, the Aero's turning radius of 35-36 foot is also unmatched. The CTS comes closest in the turning radius, but scrimps on the interior room and trunk space. Other American offerings, like the Lincoln, are better on the interior room and the trunk space, but have a barge-like turning radius. In areas of the country with narrow roads, like here in the Pacific Northwest, turning radius is an important issue . . . .
