I know a well done crimp is good. But to me there are too many variables.
1. a good crimp tool.
2. proper connectors sized prperly
3. proper wire size for the connectors
Last this is the size of the joint for a critical area of the harness.
I have been soldering for too many years and have my technique down so I guess I can be proud of the craftmanship and the resulting repair.
OP is right about the amount of room inside the trunk lid. Plenty of room for connectors. I am more worried about in the trunk bend area of the harness.
