I see that some carry or recommend carrying a spare. The coolant by pass valve in my 2004 ARC is currently disabled - so coolant flows into the heater core all the time/
But I think having it enabled does allow for better AC cooling - this observation coming from a before and after disconnect in the 2004 ARC.
Having said the above the AC in my 1999 9-5 always worked better - even at 170k miles . Both systems were properly charged.
Any opinions on whether it's worth re-connecting the by pass valve ? I'm tempted to do so and maybe invest in a spare as the stupid thing did fail and fail badly while under warranty resulting in a flatbed trip to the dealer
