Simple Green is great stuff, but not completely m/c friendly.
It is paint safe.
It is iron alloy safe.
It is (most) plastic safe.
Therefore it should be ok on painted / clear-coated aluminums, bare
steel (and stainless), and plastics.
i.e. painted wheels, clear-coated frames, bodywork, etc. should be
generally ok.... BUT -

Simple Green attacks UNcoated aluminum on a (molecular?) level, leading
to embattlement.
Therefore it is NOT to be used on polished frames etc. It is also unsafe
on anodized aluminum parts (since the anodizing stuff is just chemically
treated aluminum, it's still aluminum).

Anal military aircraft types go absolutely nuts when they hear about
Simple Green being used to clean an aluminum m/c frame. Cleaning
aluminum with Simple Green type chemicals in an aircraft will get you
suspended for a serious safety violation.

The real risk here is that the damage done is not visible.
There are plenty of other products on the market (Honda Spray Polish and
S-100 come to mind) for me to use this indiscriminately.
