There is a million of other things for the CEL to come on besides DIC. He should read the codes first and everybody should stop guessing. It's a $10 reader or a free trip to AutoZone.

The only thing worth mentioning (before reading the codes) is to check if a gas cap is loose. This is a common reason for a CEL.
