" As the years wore on, and luxury cars were expected to provide greater levels of refinement, the Saabs soldiered on with spotty build quality and reliability, often sticking their owners with high repair bills. Not surprisingly, Saab hasn't enjoyed a significant increase in sales over the last decade. Most other luxury brands have."
I kinda saw it coming when the reviewer has introductory paragraph like that. Notice how every positive comment has be followed by negative comments. There're lot of "but" and "however" in the review. Many positive things easily get dismissed as unimportant such as the Aero's wonderful turbo engine that was overlooked in favor of V6/V8 of other cars for smoother power delivery. What?? Doesn't the turbocharge engine always receive high praises from other car reviewers? What about the issue of torque steer that was totally overblown? One editor (in 2nd opinion section) even went as fas as to say the steering was nearly "wrenched" out of his hand during hard acceleration. That explains a lot on how competent he is as a driver.
Also I don't know how they could recommend the A4 over the Aero when they complained the Aero's suspension not being sporty enough. The A4 was criticized in recent R&T comparison test for its mushy ride whereas the Aero, despite being a FWD car, received high praise on its handling in the same test .
Apparently , the review seemed to focus on interior features which are quite subjective and not the most important factor to me in shopping for a car, otherwise I would've got a Lexus.
