Back in the last week of November, I went out to drive my 1999 (late production, a real 1999...) LPT wagon, and was greeted with a dead battery. Dead dead. Not even a flicker of dome light.
Too busy to do anything about it, it sat until Saturday, January 4th. I pulled the old battery (an Interstate with a date code of 5/12), trundled down to AutoZone, and bought a new Duralast Gold. Installed it, and after a little slowness, got it started. Just to be on the safe side, I went out for a 28 mile highway drive to "wake up" the new battery. THat seemed to do the trick, as I was able to start it very quickly upon my return home.
That was 1:00 PM Saturday...
7:00 today, I go out to take the car to my van pool stop. Same thing as November. Dead dead dead. No lights, no nothing when I turn the key.
As far as I can tell, there was nothing running that gave any kind of audible or visual cues. Everything seemed to work just fine on Saturday, even the alarm siren (as I got the tailgate re-synched...). But 42 hours after shutting it off, the battery is dead again.
Are there any "usual suspects" to check first in this scenario? No lights remained on, no motors/fans/pumps were heard to be running, and the alarm siren stayed quiet.
I know the primary cable(s) can be a problem, but all seemed well on Saturday...
