All the online stuff the repair guys look at says 5.7 or 5.something quarts for a 2000 9-5 Aero. But the book that comes with it doesn't say that at all - it says 4.1. I went through this once where they put too much and I had them take out some. I went to a new guy and talked all about it - then I picked it up and he told me it took 5 quarts. But - he showed me on the stick, it was high on the little indicator but not over the top of it - just about to the beginning of the upper shoulder. What gives? Is the book wrong? I think if it's well drained (and you change the filter), 4 quarts isn't going to fill it, and in fact if the capacity was 4.1 quarts, it should take only 3.8 or something because some small amount always stays in the engine. I'd like to hear your opinions about this - it's quite a discrepancy from 4.1 to 5.7 - or even 4.1 to 5 (which is what it seems to take - although to put it in the middle of the indicator, probably 4.5 would do it.
