Running XP on another machine is one way to go.
Another way is to run a Virtual Machine under W7 (W8, or whaterver OS you have). Why get another machine when the one you have is more than capable of running a VM?
Three Vm options include:
1) "XP Mode" in W7
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7
2)Oracle Virtual Box
https://www.virtualbox.org/
3)VMWare Player
http://www.vmware.com/products/player
All options are free. I've run all three in one form or another over the last 6-7 years. VMware is probably the best know/well thought of VM. I like Vbox or Player, mainly because they will run under almost any of the popular OS, and can host almost all of the OSs.
My experience with WIN is that it is a slow, cumbersome memory hog as it is....depending on the amount of physical memory you have on your computer, you may find it running a tad slower under a VM. My machines have at least 8 GB and I see no (perceptible) slowness.
I have run it on XP laptops with 4GB memory and a large swap space (virtual memory), and the slowness was there, but barely noticeable...
Have fun
