It only helps you extend the life of the bypass valve.
Another just as good reason to rip out that mishmash of hoses and valve is that at some point and time, the upper heater hose where it makes a 90° bend into cylinder head will balloon and break like all those heater hoses has done since the introduction of the 16V engine in 84.
I only touch the subject when the valve has starting to leak and at that point it is a matter of replacing the valve or hose package and now since we have not heard one complaint yet about diminishing A/C performance, it is safe to say that the bypass valve system was an answer to a question never asked.
To bolster that statement, the 9-3 never received that valve and it went on working just fine from 99 to 2003 using those old traditional hoses.
