2005 Arc w. 127K miles. Follow up to my earlier post today -

Please advise on how oil pressure switch really works. Does the oil switch disable (ground) power to the warning light when it is sensing adequate minimum pressure ? The light was not lit before, but switch had slight leak. Now light is coming on at idle with hot (thin) oil - does this mean that old switch was failing and I saw no warning light, or is aftermarket switch likely to have higher pressure setting? I have not found SAAB branded switch.

I am now planning to 1) try to follow WIS and check pressure, and 2) drop the pan and check for sludge.

QUESTIONS: A) Is the pump likely to be worn [out] ? B) Does oil check valve affect oil pressure, and should I replace it ? C) What generic [Permatex] sealant can I use to re-seal the oil pan ?
