Any DIY capabilities? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 19 Jun 2014 15:36:44 In Reply to: Re: Saab 9-5 PPI results/ advice needed, dnades, Thu, 19 Jun 2014 13:45:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The upper trans mount is one of four mounts that secure the engine/transmission to the car. I woul place this and the DIC in a tie for first to be done.
DIC/IDM is a $300 part and can be replaced in under 5 minutes on a cool engine with just a single Torx screwdriver.
Crank seal and Oil Pump O-ring should be around $250 to replace. I had this done last summer on my Viggen which uses the same engine. This requires a very large pair of snap-ring pliers to replace so even DIY'ers such as myself will sometimes hire this done rather than spend a lot of money for a seldom used tool.
PCV valve is ~$50 and requires no tools to install - just a set of nimble fingers.
Belt cover is beneath the car, costs less than $50 last I looked, and only needs a 6 or 8 mm socket/nut driver to install once car is up on a set of ramps.
