Turn signal pod update & fix ....long Posted by GFW3pedals [Email] (#405) [Profile/Gallery] (more from GFW3pedals) on Thu, 24 Jul 2014 06:07:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My turn signal stalk stopped clicking into place and self cancelling for right hand turns, and based on searches here I did not find much specifically to a failed turn signal, just "loose" turn signal stalks. Others did post that the pod was "loose" and fixes were posted on how to shim the back of it with a piece of plastic or cardboard or whatever works. However, it turns out that mine had the same problem, but the pod was actually rubbing on the rotating steering wheel shaft and causing it to not function properly, or at all. The unit is designed with two plastic tabs at the base that act like springs to keep it in place. These break off over time and something semi-flexible tucked in there to take their place solves the problem. Certainly no need to replace the unit. 15 minutes,a torx, and a few peices of super dense closed cell foam I had laying around fixed it nicely. I would suggest everyone with an older 9 5 have a look at yours, because one of the two tabs is probably broken or on it's way out, I just never noticed how loose the whole thing was until it failed. Gotta love them easy Goldberg fixes. ;-)
