BMW, MB, FORD all building I4 turbos now Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 07:11:38 In Reply to: Hmm., bill h., Tue, 28 Oct 2014 19:28:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
"our 2.3 L motor has all the smoothness of a single cylinder Briggs and Stratton. That ratty, (but as we know, durable little motor) is exactly why Saab is now part of history. Just could not sell them with the competition having V6's I6's and V8's. Nobody wanted to ride in something with the smoothness of a J-10 Earth Packer, especially at a 45k+ price tag."
Saab was just ahead of their time and GM did not get it and put their crappy V6 in the 95. Why are BMW, MB, FORD and others introducing 4 cylinder turbos with great fanfare? Fuel economy CAFE standards they have to meet and the high price of fuel. Saab pioneered production turbos and great ECU technology in the T7 system and really produced great engines that the rest of world is now emulating.
