cheap speaker upgrade (long)

tired of the decent sound from the HK system, i decided to do a quick upgrade for little cash.
This is for a 2006 sedan, so other year/models may differ, but should be similar.
1- purchased a pair of 3.5 coaxial speakers from the zon. I chose Polks for $40 shipped
2- remove dash covers - remove speakers - cut off the wire connectors
3- using wire terminals (harbor freight) I attached 2 female connectors
(wires with stripe are positive)
3- connected wires to new speakers and installed
4- removed rear door covers and disconnected the rear door speakers (they add some vocal, etc. , but just muddy the soundstage)
Result:
much improved sound from the front dash speakers and the whole soundstage is in front since the rear door speakers were disconnected.
Also, you can now use your stereo controls to better adjust the rear panel subs (again, the rear door speakers are silent)
Cons: The polk tweeters sit higher than stock so the dash covers don't snap fully back into place. It's close enough for me, but you may want to check other speakers to view their depth.
For $40 installed, i don't believe you can do better.
