I'll have to switch my SID to metric and give it a look! that's pretty cool -- I figured it changed the units of measure, but didn't realize it changed the calculation from efficiency to consumption.
When my cables were wonky, things generally appeared normal -- radio, lights, chimes, etc. The car would crank, and sometime fire right away, and other times take a while to fire. Technician thought that sometimes it had enough power available to crank, but not also to concurrently run the computer and start the fuel flow.
Replacing the cable and cleaning up the ground connections made a huge difference.
