rather was thinking is it time at 16 years and 240k miles and 15mm to consider taking it to a previous Saab Master Tech about an hour away from me to have both chains, guides, etc all done correctly? could also let him recheck the head bolts again and tighten up everything as seem to be getting some oil weeping more lately.

I don't suspect that the chain would actually break either but if the spec limit is 15mm will it beyond that be able to keep proper timing? Does the computer compensate for chain length? the tensioner goes out to 20mm so the chain should stay taught for a while as long as there is room for that? but will the actual timing get hosed at some point? Am I not thinking about this correctly? if the chain is effectively longer, the time it takes to travel between all the sprockets is lengthened right?

Or do I just keep rolling with it? I'd like to get 300k out of it at least. Being in South Florida, the car looks great and still rides great. no rust, etc. Heck, it would be nice to just drive it forever really as long as I have back up. I like the car and know it well as I am original owner. I have a 13yr old who will be driving in a couple years too. I am looking at a 3rd car (truck actually) this year but plan to drive the 9-5 daily commuting 30 miles each way.
