No band-aids, but did discover about a half dozen cuts on my arms...
Honestly, it's all really easy, just a huge job, and very time consuming. The part that sucked the life out of me was the heater hoses time welded onto the heater box nipples. I just have a tough time dealing with stuff that is not easily accessible. And recall I have the V6, where the firewall is a lot more easily accessible than with the 4!
The car did swallow a 4mm hex head driver, though...
Thanks for the comment about the dash writeup. That is, to me, far and away easier to do if replacing a dash cupholder than attempting to do it from the radio hole backwards...
What I liked was it all came apart, and all went right back where it was supposed to go! I can't think of a C900 or 99 dash that ever did the same for me. There was always a little fiddling, something way too thin would break, etc.
And all I need for all the disassembly was a T-25 driver, a T-30 (for the airbag & shifter), T-40 (seats), 10mm, 12mm & 13mm sockets/ratcheting box-end wrenches.
If anyone needs to do this, buy a good pistol grip 1/4" driver with lithium-ion batteries. That'll take out most of the Torx® bits, and after loosening with the ratchet or wrench, most everything else. This one tool saved most of my sanity (that which wasn't lost on the heater hoses...), and kept me from losing all those T-25s...
You NEED a 10mm angled (not straight) ratcheting box end wrench for the three bolts/nut that hold the forward top of the dash to the car. Unless, of course, you remove the windshield first...
Oh - once you have the heater ducts out, there is a small screw welded to the body that sticks straight up under each seat. It will hurt like heck of you lean on it or sit on it. Bring a cushion...
