Removing Rear Motor Mount Bolts Posted by XLR99 [Email] (#1699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from XLR99) on Sat, 14 Nov 2015 10:27:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all, I'm in the middle of a front end refresh on my 04 Aero wagon. I'm encountering some resistance from the rear motor mount. As proof that Murphy is alive and well, the easy bolt (front right) listened right up, but both the others are still stuck tight. Plenty of PB blaster, but I've only been soaking these bolts since yesterday at this point.
I'm going to try some heat when I get home, although I'm not sure how effective that will be. I think the problem is galvanic corrosion in the mount, not the threads on the subframe. I have the back of the subframe down an inch or so; I can get a socket on the rear bolt.
I tried doing some searching for others who have had issues with these bolts, but no dice yet. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Andy
