A big thanks to Anders, Steve and Boris on the technique & tools to remove the top-side fill plug with the T55 recess. This aluminum plug is so easily damaged that it can almost be considered a one time use part. I know that I will require a new one for the next drain and re-fill with most of the damage being old.

I recently met a guy who does a fair share of prototype parts machining. I will have to ask if he can machine a plug from a more durable grade of aluminum, with a double or triple thick knurled top flange, and a deeper recess for the T55 bits.
