"Will running them while one occasionally flickers cause damage to other components in the system?"
I'm not sure, I just replaced my bulbs and my dash light is still on so I need to find out more about the system and what else could be wrong. Maybe a level sensor? Wish it threw a code and not just a dash light.
"risk of DEATH"
I think they included that statement in the manual to cover themselves if someone was working on the headlights with the engine running, hence the HID system would be receiving power.
