Snow chains, tire size on 2006 "sport": 205/55 R16 ok?

Hi all,
I just mounted my snow tires and wheels on my 2006 Sportcombi "sport" today. Knowing that there is frequently chain control in the mountains near Lake Tahoe, I investigated snow chains in the owner's manual -- discovered that the "only" wheel-tire combination that should be used is 215/55 R16 with 6.5x16" wheels. I'm looking for people with experience with snow chains!
Two wrinkles: first, the wheels are from an NG 9-3 (ALU 57 style, 6.5x16), which have a little lower offset. Second, the tires are 205/55 R16. My understanding is that these are ever so slightly (1.6%) smaller in diameter and a little narrower (4.6%) than the 215/55 R16 specified by the manual. I also understand that in previous years, the manual allowed the 205/55 R16 as an option.
So, other than the speedo reading a little high, do I have anything to worry about? I'm technically using z-style cables that are "low profile") on this wheel/tire combo?
In searching, I don't see a lot of people talking about chains -- anyone have experience they can share?
TIA,
Tim B.
