Big lesson learned. CA smog check now relay OBD II, no longer get on the dyno machine.
Here is how I complete the drive cycle after replaced the new battery and repairs:
Gas tank 1/4 to 3/4 full.
Cold start, idle 2 mins
Get on freeway, accelerate gently to 55 mph.
Hold 55 mph at 5th gear for 3+ mins. Do not use cruise control.
Exit the freeway, decelerate to 25 mph, no brake, clutch or shift.
Enter the freeway again. Don't need extra time for idle or cool down the engine.
Accelerate a little harder to 55 mph again but not full throttle.
Hold 55 mph at 5th gear for 5+ mins. Do not use cruise control.
Exit the freeway, decelerate to 25 mph, no brake, clutch or shift.
Done.
Repeat 5 times.
Plan your route with good freeway exit - long path for deceleration, shoulder or 2 lanes exit to pull away if block the traffic.
Hope my experience will help someone who need to get the CAT ready.
