You can repaint the hood and be fine, but it's not trending well if you are seeing the same issue on the upper windshield/roof area. If that goes bad later, you'll have to repaint again and incur another set-up/prep charge. Check the rest of the roof and trunk area, and see if they might be in need of paint as well. Small paint jobs are proportionally more expensive than larger ones, though overall cheaper, but not as much as one would think. The upper parts of cars get the most sun damage; it may be worthwhile to do the hood, roof, and trunk at one time if the cost is not much more than just the hood. Wouldn't paint the whole car if not needed. Check out the options.
