7 Saabs, 33 years, over a million miles. My indie mech and I have been doing business for 28 years. We are good friends, like having SWEDECAR 2 miles from my house.
Currently 04 9-5 Aero, Silver, 151k
There is really nothing out there that I really want for a replacement. Nothing really stirs the automotive soul.
Rust not an issue in GA, but the thing that I never liked about any of my Saabs is the marginal air conditioning. The car is miserable from May until October. I would say that most of my problems with Saabs over the years have been AC related. When the heat index is 115 and the sun is blazing I hate these cars, take forever to cool off.
I find most Asian cars also have weak ac, and shitty seats for tall people.
My wifes four Audis and her current Volvo S80 have great ac, cold and lots of airflow. My 21 year old Ford truck is an icebox in under a minute, and I never spent a dime on the AC system on that ride. My sad saab just puffs out a little cool air, the max fan speed is like the minimum speed on any other vehicle. Even my dog does not want to get in it.
So I want a XC 90, but dont want to pay for it, maybe a Ford Flex Limited, or I get rid of the 9-5 and the truck and get a Chevy Colorado V6.
None of those will give me the enjoyment of my 9-5, but good AC and a little more room may ease the loss of a Saab in my garage.
