I'm not going to say that driving/owning an 1980s Saab 900 and driving/owning a first generation Saab 9-5 (4 cylinder) are real close, but in terms of DNA, these are both genuine Saabs in a way the last 9-3s and this final 9-5 are not. To me, those are much more GM. Too GM in fact.

I just cannot think of much of anything about the old 900s that you'd find in the swan song 9-5. Is it so suggestive of a Buick. It doesn't seem like a Saab to be any more than the 9-7 (Trailblazer) trucks seemed like Saabs.
