I've got four 9-5s on the road; cannot rule out grabbing more.
When I see 2017-2018 cars perform like that white Mitsubishi Mirage G4 in Florida (all four killed) I'm not at all convinced newer cars are actually safer. Once a vehicle is assembled, you consume energy and create extra waste when you replace before you have to. I just don't care about Bluetooth connectivity, since I'm buying these cars to drive, not to throw parties in. And if my car crashes into the back of a Firetruck, then maybe auto pilot has some ways to go. If you need help keeping your car in the correct lane, and need assistance from the vehicle to do so, you are doing something wrong - you just failed the Bubbanov driving test, and should contemplate surrendering your privileges.
I like to leave a vehicle at a remote hiking trailhead or kayak access site and know it will be there, unmolested, and that it will start when I return in a few days. If I leave an '04 4x4 Tacoma there, it will be stolen. If I leave a BMW or Audi there, it will be vandalized. Is this a good place to leave a newer $ 50,000 vehicle? Nah. And. The drive 100s of miles back home will be engaging and comfortable in a 9-5 - and the average mostly used up USA or Korea used sedan or SUV, not so much.
This is the diamond in the rough.
