My wife was driving on the highway in driving rain in our '04 9-5 Aero Kombi (190k miles). The ABS, Traction Control, and warning triangle came on followed by the Check Engine Light. The speedo also went to zero while driving. She pulls off at the next exit and calls since the CEL came on all in a panic.
I pack up my computer with OpCom and head out. Turns out she has codes P1925 and U2143 which indicate the control unit for ESP is not talking to the rest of the bus and the ECM. I cleared the codes and reset the lights. I then drove 100+ miles home with NO incident and cruise control on most of the way.
A few days later the problem persisted. Hook up OpCom again and get nothing / nada when querying the ESP system. Nothing - just a blank window. I Tried rebooting the computer and rebooting the car - battery neg cable off and on. Still nothing.
I pulled the connector on the ABS unit and applied contact cleaner and DeOxit to the terminals. When I reinstalled the connector with cleaned contacts, I could talk to the ESP module and clear codes. We'll see how long this fix lasts. Has anyone else experienced connector deterioration causing problems like this?
